The Edmonton Food Drive is on this Saturday!
Once again this year the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has organized the city wide Edmonton Food Drive to help fill our shelves for the fall. On Saturday, September 23rd between 10:00 am and noon, volunteers from the church will be collecting non-perishable food donations to help stock the shelves at Edmonton’s Food Bank.
“Hunger never takes a holiday and this food drive helps Edmonton’s Food Bank to feed our neighbours in need,” said Tamisan Bencz-Knight, Manager of Strategic Relationships and Partnerships with Edmonton’s Food Bank.
Heart-shaped notices along with bags are being delivered to single-family homes in many areas of the city. (Multi-family homes such as apartments or townhouses will not be receiving notices for accessibility reasons.) If you receive a notice and wish to donate, please leave your donation on your doorstep by 10 AM on Saturday, September 23rd where it will be visible for volunteers to pick up. If you are wondering what to give our most needed items are listed on the bag or can be found here.
Please note: Since the church does this food drive throughout the province it is the only food drive that will not have our logo on its materials. We thank ATB for sponsoring the creation of the notices and bags!
Monetary donations are not to be given to anyone during the food drive as the Food Bank does not collect money at your door. Monetary donations can be made securely through the Edmonton’s Food Bank website www.edmontonsfoodbank.com/donate or by contacting Edmonton’s Food Bank at 780.425.2133. If your house did not receive a notice, as always, food donations can be made at any City of Edmonton fire station or major grocery stores in Edmonton.
In 2016, the Edmonton Food Drive city wide door to door collected 30,267 kilograms of food for Edmonton’s Food Bank! We hope we can count on your support again this year.
