...but things soon started to fall apart
My husband and I along with our nine year old son recently moved to Edmonton from our home country. My husband got a job right away as he was professionally qualified, but things soon started to fall apart. My husband became increasingly physically abusive, and finally I left him and have requested a divorce. I am trying to support our son by working, but can only work part time due to an illness. I have only one friend in the city and I have had trouble getting assistance from social agencies. My friend brought me to the Food Bank where I was helped with a hamper and directed to other agencies that may be able to help me long term. It was also recommended that I contact A Centre for Newcomers to receive some support.
