What are the most needed items?

May 10, 2010

Non-perishable food donations may be left at any City of Edmonton fire hall or major grocery store. The main Food Bank warehouse is located at 11508–120 Street and is open Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to accept food and monetary donations.

Below is Edmonton’s Food Bank Most Needed Items List. The list provides guidelines to donors; however, other food items are also appreciated. Please note that specific foods such as lentils and rice are also gratefully accepted by the Food Bank for supporting the cultural diversity of Edmontonians in need.

As an aside, toiletries such as deodorant and shampoo are accepted (please ensure that these items are identified and sealed separately from food donations to limit breakage or contamination). Please contact Edmonton’s Food Bank at 780.425.2133 if you would like to donate non-food items.

It is important to recognize that 70 to 80 per cent of the food distributed by Edmonton’s Food Bank is donated by the food industry, including grocery stores, warehouses, farmers, producers, etc. If you are a corporate food donor and would like more information on scheduling food pick-ups or understanding what types of product can be donated to the Food Bank, please call us at 780.425.2133.

Thank you for your ongoing support to Edmonton!
