Alberta Hunters Sharing the Harvest

A program for hunters to donate
wild game to soup kitchens and shelters.

Food

Established in 1996, Alberta Hunters Sharing the Harvest (formerly Alberta Hunters Who Care) ask hunters to share their harvest of white tailed deer, mule deer, elk, or moose with Edmonton’s Food Bank. The generosity of these hunters allows us to distribute wild meat as an ingredient to our agencies, who then provide meals in soup kitchens and shelters. Alberta Health Services rigorously monitors the program, and donors and recipient organizations must meet specific requirements to participate.

This program is strictly monitored by Alberta Health Services. More information can also be found in the Alberta Hunting Regulations (page 78). Those wishing to participate in the program can call the 24-hour information line at 780.443.6006 prior to donation.
